Sex and Relationships Education

Sex and Relationships Education is taught throughout the school at an appropriate level, in a caring and sympathetic manner, by teachers who will deal with issues as and when they arrive.

Children in Year 6 are taught about the changes they will experience as they go through puberty and about the cycle of human production.  This is dealt with in a sensitive way, in the context of a loving relationship.  School staff are supported in their teaching by the school nurse.

Before the more sensitive aspects of sex education are covered, parents are informed in writing.  Parents have the right to withdraw their children from the sex education provided, except that which is required as part of the National Curriculum.
