Summer 1 Week 2 April 24th 2023

Good morning everyone,

I hope you have had a good weekend. Today the School Council will meet to discuss their next steps.

This week we will be practising our Coronation song.

Homework will be given out on Friday for a Thursday return. Please support your child to remember to do this- thank you.

Year 5 will have swimming as their PE for this term. If there is time, then we may do some more PE activities during the week but they can be in uniform for these. Thank you.

 

Mental Health and our Active Challenge.

 This week we are challenging the children to see how many times they you run around the playground in 2 minutes. 
The School Council’s draft homework policy begins this term.

 

 

We have been alerted to the fact that children in Years 6 and 4 are using Snapchat. Unfortunately this has resulted in the children falling out and bringing the argument into school. Please be aware that the minimum age for this is 13 years of age.

We have introduced artist of the term.

 

Music opportunities in Doncaster.

 

 Remember if children read at least 3 times in the week and have their reading diary signed they can earn stickers on their chart. These stickers earn the children a prize for each milestone they hit. We will also feature their photo in the school hall and in this news post. So please support your child to read as much as possible. Thank you.

Maintaining good attendance at school- parents’ guide.

Children’s University

We will be awarding hours to children who volunteer in school for example as a Playground Leader, Eco or School Councillor. Children also earn hours for taking part in lunchtime and after school clubs.

Key Dates

April

18th- Year 5 swimming begins. Year 1 sports coaching begins.

26th – Book fair in school. Skateboarding sessions for KS2.

27th- Teacher strike day- school open

May

1st- Bank holiday- school closed.

2nd- Teacher strike day- school open

4th- Coronation event pm- parents invited.

King Charles Coronation Celebration at school on Thursday 4th May at 2pm until – 3:15pm. It is a non uniform day and everyone is invited to wear red, white & blue.

Parents/carers are to collect their child from class at 2pm by signing them out and then can take to event. Once you have signed for your child they will become your responsibility at the event.
Please note at the event there will be lots going on including face painting – £1.50, pin the crown on King – £1 for 3 goes, bottle tombola – £1, football penalty shoot out – £1 for 3 goes. Tombola – £1 for 3 goes, Tiny toy tombola – £1 for 3 goes and we will be selling drinks and also will be a tuck shop. The Ice -cream van will be here too!!

If you are unable to make the event, you may send money with your child and staff will accompany your child around the event. We look forward to seeing you all there and thank you for your continued support.
